1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using ShortRent.app or any of our mobile applications (collectively, the “Services”), you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, you must not use the Services.

2. About ShortRent

ShortRent Dot App Ltd operates an online platform connecting landlords and tenants for short- and long-term property rentals. We facilitate listings, communication, and payments but do not own or manage listed properties.

3. Eligibility

To use ShortRent, you must be at least 18 years old and capable of entering into legally binding agreements. By registering, you represent and warrant that the information you provide is true and accurate.

4. User Accounts

You must create an account to list or rent properties.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized access or breach of your account.

5. Landlords’ Responsibilities

Landlords must ensure that all property listings are accurate, lawful, and available.
Landlords are solely responsible for compliance with all applicable laws, including housing and safety regulations.
Landlords agree that once they approve a tenant and the tenant makes payment, they must honor the agreement. Rejecting or canceling such a booking after tenant payment will attract a penalty fee of ₦100,000 (One Hundred Thousand Naira), which will be charged to the landlord’s account.
Landlords will be paid 92% of the total rent charged to the tenant. The remaining 8% is our commission.
ShortRent is not responsible for disputes between landlords and tenants.

6. Tenants’ Responsibilities

Tenants agree to provide accurate information and use the platform only for legitimate rental purposes.
Tenants are responsible for fulfilling their rental obligations and complying with property rules.

7. Payments

Payments on ShortRent are processed securely through third-party payment processors such as Monnify. We do not store or directly handle users’ bank or card information. Any issues with payments should first be directed to your payment provider.

7A. Direct Debit Authorization

By renting a property through ShortRent, tenants expressly authorize ShortRent Dot App Ltd and its payment partners to debit their designated bank account automatically each month for the rental amount due, using a Direct Debit Mandate.

The tenant agrees to maintain sufficient funds in their account to cover monthly rent debits.
Failure to honor a Direct Debit due to insufficient funds may result in penalties, late fees, or suspension of account access.
The Direct Debit authorization remains in effect until the tenancy is lawfully terminated or canceled through the ShortRent platform.

8. Prohibited Activities

Users may not:

Post false, misleading, or fraudulent information.
Use the Services for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.
Interfere with or disrupt the security or performance of the platform.
Collect information about other users without their consent.

9. Intellectual Property

All content, trademarks, and software on ShortRent are the property of ShortRent Dot App Ltd or its licensors. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Services without our prior written consent.

10. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

The Services are provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. ShortRent Dot App Ltd is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of our Services, including disputes between landlords and tenants.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms or misuse of the Services. You may also delete your account at any time from within the app or website.

12. Privacy

Your use of the Services is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect and use your data.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page with the effective date. Continued use of the Services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes arising shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Abuja, Nigeria.
